Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen has found himself plagued with scandals, from pay-for-play schemes to selling access to the White House. Cohen has made millions from Trump’s presidency. The former reality show star hires the worst lawyers.
Case in point: former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani who is either suffering from dementia or he hit himself on the head. Recently, Giuliani went on a media blitz and seemed to throw everyone under the bus, including Donald Trump. He continued that streak by telling Politico that Cohen is no longer working for Trump.
“As far as we know, he’s not,” Giuliani said on Friday. “And there’d be nothing for him to do right now.”
But, it was just last month that Trump said that Cohen was still representing him in a personal capacity. You might remember that. Trump told reporters that he didn’t know about the $130,000 payment Cohen had made to adult film star Stormy Daniels just weeks before the 2016 presidential election in a bid to help keep her quiet about their alleged sexual affair. Well, when Rudy was interviewed by Sean Hannity, he admitted that Trump reimbursed Cohen for the payment. That was in stark contrast as to what Trump said last month.
Special counsel Robert Mueller, who is overseeing the investigation into Russia interference, is probably delighted by this news. Cohen, who is a husband and father, was revealed by Michael Avenatti, Stormy Daniels’ attorney, to have received $500,000 in the months after the 2016 election from a company run by a Russian oligarch with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Cohen also gained access to as much as $774,000 through two financial transactions during the 2016 campaign as he sought to fix problems for his boss, according to the Wall Street Journal. Also, Cohen received money from a Swiss drug company, Novartis, AT&T, and Korea Aerospace Industries. But, because special counsel is ten steps ahead of team Trump, it was revealed that Robert Mueller contacted Novartis last year about payments it made to Michael Cohen. Meaning, Mueller already knows about all of this and he’s likely sitting back at his desk, waiting for Cohen to drop a dime on his now-former client.
