America is absolutely over having a man-baby in the White House. Donald Trump, who is far more focused on making sure only nice (untrue) things are written about him, had another meltdown earlier today. This morning, Trump whined about how the media writes more negative than positive things about him, even though that’s an entirely accurate representation of how his presidency is going.
Proving that he cares far more about stroking his ego than he does about doing his job, Trump tweeted and suggested that he should “take away credentials” of the press for not writing good things about him. Trump tweeted:
“The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?”
The media isn’t having it, though. Just a little after that tweet, Playboy White House Correspondent Brian Karem addressed Trump’s threat and let the president have it, suggesting that he should grow up and take criticism “like a man,” the way all Trump’s predecessors have done. Pointing out that Trump is basically acting like a toddler, Karem said:
“Take your lumps like a man, I mean for heaven’s sake, every president faces this. Shut up and take your medicine, act like a man, for heaven’s sake, every President takes criticism.”
Karem then defended his fellow colleagues in the press room, stating that everyone is just doing their jobs. Karem also asked, “What does that do to a free press?” when he imagined a newsroom full of only Trump-approved reporters who are only allowed to write good things about him.
We all know that if Trump had his way, America would be a dictatorship and there would be absolutely no criticism of him, even if it were true. America cannot afford to have its free press restricted during the Trump presidency — it is often the only connection we have to the truth.
