Donald Trump is currently trying to cope with the mess that the newest member of his legal team, Rudy Giuliani, left behind last week when the former NYC mayor went off on a totally unhinged media blitz. Things haven’t gotten much better this week, either, as Giuliani continues to make things worse by refusing to shut up.
Earlier today, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported that even though Giuliani only joined Trump’s team two weeks ago, Trump is already at his wit’s end. Trump likely thought that Giuliani would be a blessing to his investigation, as Giuliani once claimed that he could end Robert Mueller’s probe in “a week or two” — but thanks to Giuliani’s exposing of Trump’s lies in the investigation, Trump is furious that the probe has only seemed to pick up steam. Collins said:
“It did not take long for Rudy Giuliani to fall out of the president’s good graces here. He’s only been on the legal team for about three weeks now, not even three weeks. And already the president is disappointed in his performance.”
Collins explained that Trump had vetted Giuliani due to his aggressive approach, hopeful that it would intimidate Mueller enough to put an end to the Russia probe.
“The president brought Rudy Giuliani, his longtime friend, on because he thought he was going to be able to help bring this Russia investigation to an end much more quickly with more aggressive approach, something that matched the way that the president wanted to go after this. But now after this string of interviews that Rudy Giuliani has done… the president is now thinking that Rudy Giuliani is causing more headaches than he is solving problems.”
Collins stated that Trump and several of his White House officials were “very exasperated” with Giuliani, and ironically they are wondering if he is “all there mentally.”
It seems as though Trump is finally getting a taste of what it’s like to work with someone who is just as flawed and unhinged as he is. You can watch the report below:
