    Donald Trump, News, Politics, Women

Today, First lady Melania Trump is sending a big ‘f*ck you’ to her awful husband by introducing her new initiatives at a White House Rose Garden event. This comes after Melania has tried to make as few public appearances as possible due to the humiliation she has suffered thanks to Donald Trump’s horrific leadership and exposed extramarital affairs.

Melania will appear before the press to talk about her new proposals, which will be focused on children and families. While her husband may have destroyed her initial pledge to tackle cyberbullying due to the fact that he cyberbullies far more than he performs his duties as president, Melania is determined in her attempts to serve the country regardless of the chaos her husband unleashes. In March, she said of her cyberbullying initiative:

“I am well aware that people are skeptical of me discussing this topic. I have been criticized for my commitment to tackling this issue, and I know that will continue. But it will not stop me [from] doing what I know is right.”

Melania has also taken on the nation’s opioid crisis and other initiatives, despite the “impossible situation” she is dealing with due to her husband. Kate Andersen Brower, author of “First Women: The Grace and Power of America’s Modern First Ladies, and First in Line,” makes the argument that Melania “has been, in her way, the best version of the first lady that she can.” Brower stated that Melania has taken to ceremonial duties, as she has the ability to be “really be empathetic and sympathize with people, in the way that her husband can’t.”

Melania has also done her best to distance herself from Trump when it seems wise to, for the most part avoiding him at events and refusing to publicly engage in his drama and attacks. Brower explained, “I think she has been very smart to try to stay above the fray. She’s learning the best thing to do is just focus on these bipartisan, non-controversial issues, do the state dinner, go about her business as best you can.”

Despite the fact that many of us are frustrated that Melania continues to be somewhat complicit in Trump’s bad behavior, we can’t pretend there haven’t been several high profile instances in which Melania shunned Trump, such as her “refusal to stand by her husband” or hold his hand as cameras roll.

It seems as though Melania is now looking to put more distance between herself and her husband, and make the most of an extremely sh*tty situation. You can watch a report on Melania’s recent moves below:
