The White House has truly become a reality television show, especially after the latest horrifying developments.
Last week, rapper Kanye West made his wife, Kim Kardashian, look like complete angel as he went off the deep end and tweeted pro-Trump nonsense, which eventually resulted in a tweet from the president himself. It was a new low for our country, but it looks like things are going to get worse.
Since her husband ruined his chances for a 2020 presidential bid last week, Kim has taken it upon herself to advocate for their family and get inside the White House in her own special way. Apparently, Kim has been in frequent contact with White House Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, blowing up his phone to talk about finding a resolution for Alice Marie Johnson — a nonviolent drug offender who is serving a life sentence due to drug trafficking.
White House lawyers, who are familiar with Johnson’s case as well as the calls between Kim and Jared, have stated that the calls “picked up in intensity over the last several days,” likely inspired by Kanye’s “political” activity on Twitter. Mic reported:
“In her October op-ed, Johnson told Mic she became involved in drug trafficking as a way to make ends meet following a particularly rough period in her life: She lost her job at FedEx, where she had worked for 10 years, due to a gambling addiction; she got divorced; and then her youngest son died in a motorcycle accident.
“I felt like a failure,” Johnson said. “I went into a complete panic and out of desperation, I made one of the worst decisions of my life to make some quick money. I became involved in a drug conspiracy.”
Kim had picked up on Johnson’s story as it gained popularity last year, and made it her personal mission to do something about it.
Johnson has been carrying out her life sentence in jail since 1996. Meanwhile, Trump is pushing for the death penalty for drug offenders.
While Kim may be pushing for a more humane resolution for drug offenders, I think we can all agree that certain people — like Trump and many entertainers — do not have any business working in the White House. If Kim and her husband continue to develop a taste for the White House, 2020 is about to be a sh*tshow of an election.
